Online Map (beta)

We are in the process of making 3D Map New Zealand available as a web app that can run on any device, including Windows and Mac OS computers and Android mobile phones.

Caveats

This is currently experimental and many features of the iOS app are missing. In particular:

• Nothing is persistent, i.e. the map starts afresh each time you visit the page.
• It may be really slow to start - it may take a long time for the initial map to be usable, and zooming in may take a long time for the detailed map to appear. Please be patient.
• Text and graphics may be of poor quality on a desktop monitor.

Please don't use this as an indication of how the iOS app behaves!

Browser Compatibility

Initially we aim for compatibility with current (mid-2026) versions of Firefox, Safari and Chrome on Windows, Mac OS, Android, iOS and Linux. This could change; other browsers are not blocked so you can try them.

Privacy

The web app has minimal analytics - we receive data when it starts, and when it crashes. This includes information about the browser being used, the size of the screen (so that we know if it's a phone or a computer), and your very approximate geographic location (country or major-city level). It does not collect any personally-identifying information.
